The Regional Stock Exchange (BRVM), organized the second edition of the BRVM Awards this Saturday, April 10, 2021 at the Sofitel Hôtel Ivoire in Abidjan.
This award ceremony aims to promote and celebrate the actors of the Regional Financial Market (RMF) of UEMOA.
According to the Director General of the BRVM, Dr. Edoh Kossi Amenounvé, the BRVM being the management structure of the market and constitutes a unique model of stock market integration in the world. In 2020, it instituted the BRVM Awards, a distinction ceremony aimed at recognizing the most dynamic companies in the sub-region. “This new pan-African economic indicator aims to bring together all the players in the regional market, to highlight the stock market dynamism of the sub-region, to increase the visibility of the MFR and to promote excellence and good practices” a- he clarified.
For this second edition, 8 companies were awarded this prize of excellence in different categories, including Sonatel in the best listed company category. Then, the Best Management and Intermediation Company (SGI) was awarded to Société Générale Capital Securities West Africa; while the prize for the best UCITS Management Company (SGO) was won by SOAGA.
The Best Bond Issuer, returned to the Public Treasury of Burkina Faso; As for the best BTCC, it was the business of Société Générale Côte d’Ivoire conservatives. The prize for the best SME in the ELITE Program was awarded to Neurotech SA. The jury has decided to choose the Institution de Prévoyance Sociale-Caisse Nationale de Prévoyance. Sociale (IPS-CNPS) for the Best Institutional Investor award. Finally, the prize for Best Financial Media was awarded to Financial Afrik.
These nominated entities were chosen by a jury chaired by Charles Kié (president of the Jury), Viviane Bakayoko, Mr Didier Acouetey, Ms Nabou Fall and Ms Khady Ciss. It should be noted that this year, two special prizes and an honorary prize will be awarded. These are the special BRVM Awards prize awarded to Minister of State Adjoumani Kouassi, the special BRVM & DC/BR prize awarded to the Minister of Economy and Finance of Benin, Romuald Wadagni. A posthumous honorary prize was also awarded to the late Hamed Bakayoko, former Prime Minister of Côte d’Ivoire.
The Minister of Economy and Finance Adama Coulibaly renewed his congratulations to the organizers and the winners. According to him, the State of Côte d’Ivoire, which is the benchmark issuer on the market, contributed strongly, in 2020, to the unprecedented dynamism of the BRVM bond market, which surpassed that of equities, during the year 2020. “Thus, of the 28 bond issues admitted to listing on our BRVM, 20 were carried out by the State of Côte d’Ivoire for a total amount raised of 1633.37 billion CFA francs, representing 68.70 % of the total amount admitted to the listing of the BRVM, “he revealed. According to Adama Coulibaly, these figures testify to the will of the Ivorian government to resort as much as necessary,
As a reminder, in 2020, 7 companies were awarded this prize of excellence, in particular the Public Treasury of Côte d’Ivoire as Best Bond Issuer, CNSS Benin as Best Institutional Investor, and Sonatel as than Best Listed Company to name but a few.
